About Dr. Vasudevan

Ram R. Vasudevan, MD, FAANS is a board certified neurosurgeon, fellowship trained in minimally invasive surgery, and founder of Austin NeuroSpine in Austin, Texas. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, where he served as class president. He was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Society, the national medical honor society for top graduating physicians in medical schools across the country.

Neurospine Studies

Dr. Vasudevan completed his internship at the University of Missouri-Columbia under Dr. John Oro, one of the leading experts in Chiari Malformations. He then studied at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, learning current techniques in the surgical treatment of brain tumors and minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Vasudevan built upon this foundation at the prestigious University of Arkansas where he studied under Dr. JD Day, T. Glenn Pait, and internationally renowned and distinguished neurosurgeon M. Gazi Yasargil, credited with being the Neurosurgeon of the Century and father of modern micro-neurosurgical techniques.

Dr. Vasudevan also enhanced his technical skill at the famed Stanford University Medical Center, serving as a clinical instructor and fellow in minimally invasive neurospine surgery before deciding to move his practice to Austin.

Current Work

Dr. Vasudevan has authored peer-reviewed articles investigating outcomes and current techniques in minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Vasudevan has published more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and abstracts. He has been involved in educating future neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons, presenting original research at national meetings investigating improved treatment options for complex spinal disorders.

He is currently a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society. In his spare time, Dr. Vasudevan enjoys live music, watching football, exercising, and traveling around the world.
